Tyra Banks is adding the role of talk show host to her resume.

The model, actress and creator/executive producer/star of UPN's reality series "America's Next Top Model" has signed a deal with Telepictures Prods. to develop a daytime talk show that will be distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.

Banks will host the multi-topic show and serve as an executive producer. The talker is being targeted for a fall 2005 syndication launch.

WBDTD president Dick Robertson and WBDTD executive vp and Telepictures Prods. president Jim Paratore said Banks' appeal is widespread, demonstrated in part by the success of "Top Model," which became a breakout hit for UPN after it premiered in May 2003. They're hoping that success will translate into a hit talk show following in the footsteps of daytime powerhouse "The Oprah Winfrey Show," which Banks has frequented as a guest.

"Tyra is a very impressive person; she's obviously more than a model," Robertson said. "It's her appearances on 'Oprah' that we looked at and said, 'If there's ever a future Oprah, she could be the one."'

Paratore added that he sees Banks as someone who can attract younger viewers who will "grow older" with her over the long term, much like Winfrey's viewers have with her show.

"She's really emerged as a role model for the next generation of young women. She has a feel for this generation of women and she's worked with women for a long time," he said. "I think that's a big part of what's driving her to create a show that's not only entertaining and fun to watch but also relevant to her generation of women."

Several time slots could open up next year if any of this season's struggling newcomers don't return, including "The Jane Pauley Show," "The Larry Elder Show" and "Life & Style."

Banks has appeared in such films as "Halloween: Resurrection," "Coyote Ugly" and "Love & Basketball." On the TV side, she has guest-starred in such series as "American Dreams," "Felicity," "All of Us" and "Soul Food."
