*The cheesecake in Brooklyn awaits a fresh crop of Bad Boy hopefuls when the new season of P. Diddy’s “Making the Band” starts filming later this year. But this time, the singers and rappers vying for a label contract will be restricted to women, as the rap mogul seeks to add a “girl band” to his roster.
"We watched P. Diddy work magic with his last group Da Band, who despite their issues working together, still managed to take their very first album gold," MTV Series Entertainment Executive Vice President Lois Curren told AP. "We can't wait to see what he has in store for us as he forms a girl group in a whole new music genre."

Diddy already has the experience in this realm having crafted the all-female pop quartet Dream, who scored the 2000 hit, “He Loves You Not.”

Auditions for singers and musicians for the as-yet-unnamed group are scheduled for the first two weeks in October in Los Angeles, Miami and New York City. The third installment of "Making the Band" will premiere next year.

*Meanwhile, Vivica A. Fox, Naomi Campbell, and the Hilton sisters were on hand Thursday night for the grand opening of Diddy’s new Sean John flagship store on Fifth Avenue in midtown Manhattan, not far from the Harlem neighborhood where the producer was born and raised.

Guests were offered champagne for the occasion as throngs of onlookers gathered outside trying to peek inside.

Fashionistas wondered all last week why Combs chose not to preview his spring 2005 collection during NY’s Fashion week, which wrapped last weekend. The rapper/producer said he wanted to perfect the line before exposing it to the public.

"I've been designing the show for two years and I'm waiting until everything is absolutely right," he told Associated Press.

Diddy plans to follow up the Manhattan Sean John store with others in Beverly Hills, Houston, Chicago, Detroit and Atlanta, and later London, Paris and Japan.
