Actor signs development deal with CBS Par
    By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER

Jackson has signed a first-look deal with CBS Paramount Network TV to develop and exec produce projects for the smallscreen.
There's no acting component, although there's always a chance Jackson may lend his face in some fashion to whatever project he cooks up.

Jackson will be meeting with scribes in the coming weeks to start scouting out potential development.

"He's an incredibly versatile person," said CBS Paramount Network TV prexy David Stapf. "There's no limit to what he's interested in. He will attract other really interesting artists and writers."

Stapf said he was particularly interested in making the deal after learning Jackson is a passionate TV fan.

Jackson has already started dabbling in TV production, having served as exec producer on Spike TV's "Afro Samurai." He also developed projects earlier at UPN and Showtime. His more recent TV experience includes serving as narrator of PBS' "The War." He's also a go-to guy in the kudofest world, having hosted and appeared as a presenter on countless awards shows.

Jackson's recent film appearances include a cameo in "Iron Man," and roles in "Jumper" and "1408."

Deal spans two years. As part of Jackson’s venture into television, thesp is scouting for a veteran small screen exec to head up TV development. Jackson will also be given an office at the CBS Studio Center (the Radford lot).

“I look forward to having as great an influence on other's lives as television has had on mine through this collaboration,” Jackson said.

“Afro Samurai,” Jackson’s animated series for Spike TV, returns for another season this fall.

Next up, Jackson has the features “Lakeview Terrace,” “Soul Men” and “The Spirit” coming out this year. He’s also about to go into production on the film “Unthinkable.”
