Marking its latest effort to integrate its properties, Nielsen Business Media today formed a new Entertainment Group that will unite its Film & Performing Arts and Music & Literary Groups.

Gerry Byrne has been named svp of the new group, whose properties include Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Kirkus Reviews and film industry expos. John Kilcullen, who had been svp of the two groups since October 2006, will leave the company at the end of February.

Greg Farrar, president of Nielsen Business Media -- which also publishes Adweek -- said in a statement that the new organization responds to a platform-agnostic shift by the entertainment industry.

"To be successful, our ability to evolve with the industry and meet the needs of our audiences is critical," Farrar said. "That means having a unified go-to-market strategy for our entertainment assets domestically and internationally. The Entertainment Group allows us to better serve our clients, be more nimble and responsive in the marketplace and heighten our competitive advantage."

Byrne, who starts in his new role March 1 and will report to Farrar, has been an advisor to Nielsen Business Media since January 2007. He founded Gerry Byrne Media Partners, a consulting firm to the entertainment, communications and media industries, in 2003. Before that, he served as president and CEO of Stagebill Media and group vp and publisher of Variety and Daily Variety, among other positions.
