Date: Saturday, May 19, 2007 Time: 3:00pm - 7:00pm Location: Parrot Jungle Island, 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami, FL 33132 Format: Hip Hop 4 Health™ is a health-based initiative that incorporates a dance competition and free health fair featuring important health information, screenings and entertaining activities for students, their families and the community at-large. Using a genre of music and dance that is widely popular with youth, Hip Hop 4 Health™ encourages physical activity, cardiovascular health and positive healthy behaviors. The event will have 2 components: the free community health fair and the final dance competition between 3-person teams representing fifteen Miami-Dade County Middle Schools. A variety of community-based organizations are being invited to participate as exhibitors. No fee for participation is required. Space is limited to 30 community based organizations. Special invited guests include The Miami Heat's DJ Irie, Lorenzo "Ice Tea" Thomas from 99Jamz and local celebrity "judges" for the dance finale. Target: Approximately 2,500-3,500 lower to middle income parents and students from throughout Miami-Dade County. Partners: This 2nd Annual Event is sponsored by AMERIGROUP Community Care and AstraZeneca and proudly supported by The Carrie Meek Foundation. Other program partners include: South Florida After-School All-Stars, The Parent Academy, Jackson Public Health Trust, Florida KidCare, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, ACCESS Miami, and The Children's Trust.
